I'm basically a lifelong athlete, my career starting at the ripe age of 4, running my first "marathon" (it was 1 lap around a football stadium). Can actually go back further when my parents used to say I learned to run before I learned to crawl.
Movement has been my life. I enjoy working out, most outdoor activities (sorry, you won't catch me bungee jumping or hang gliding), and participating in team sports, particularly soccer.
My other greatest interest is science. I love it. I became a scientist. I taught biology for 12 years. I've dabbled with continuing my education to become a Physical Therapist, combining my 2 favorite things: science and movement.
In 2021, I took the plunge to start the transition out of teaching to move towards my Physical Therapy dreams by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT). Between my science background and the new knowledge gained from CPT course, I am bringing the wellness game to a whole new level. Not only do I take the stress of you figuring it out for yourself off your itinerary (been there), I empower you with the skills and knowledge you need on your wellness journey. No more guessing what to do and not understanding why you're doing certain moves or fueling a certain way. Plus--probably the most important bit of all--I provide the support and accountability you need to be successful.

We started with in-person training and have now moved to Melanie sending detailed plans with weekly check-ins. Melanie is a top motivator, sending regular reminds to check my posture/drink water throughout the week. She is willing to adapt plans as my circumstances change. Brilliant [Holiday Hustle] challenge. Mel is motivating and checks in on us all without it feeling overbearing. I never feel like I have to do something if I can't as she's so honest about herself and her pity party days too. It's refreshing after seeing so many other types of fitness challenges online. I like that there's no goals per se other than the ones you set for yourself so no one feels like they're in competition with each other.
